As used in this chapter, unless the context requires otherwise:

“Chief of police” includes any authorized law enforcement officer of the city.

“Costs” means the expense of removing, storing or selling a junked vehicle.

“Discarded vehicle” means any vehicle which does not have lawfully affixed thereto a valid license plate, current registration, or is in one or more of the following conditions:

1. Inoperative.

2. Wrecked.

3. Dismantled.

4. Partially dismantled.

5. Abandoned.

6. Junked.

Discarded vehicles may be deemed to include major parts thereof, including but not limited to bodies, engines, transmissions or rear ends.

“Person in charge of property” means any agent, occupant, lessee, contract purchaser, owner or person having possession, control or title of property where a vehicle is located.

Structure. As defined in TMC 18.10.020.

“Vehicle” means every device in, upon or by which any person or property is or may be transported or drawn upon a public street or highway, except devices moved by human power or used exclusively upon stationary rails or tracks.

“Vehicle owner” means any individual, firm, corporation or unincorporated association with a claim, either individually or jointly, of ownership or any interest, legal or equitable, in a vehicle. [Ord. 919 § 1, 2016; Ord. 888 § 1, 2015; Ord. 823 § 2; Ord. 748 § 1.]
